Founded by Jenny Housego and Asaf Ali, Kashmir Loom aims to preserve the heritage of pashmina and kani weaving in Srinagar. Anthology worked with the brand to create cushions and throws for the home. Handspun and handwoven with exquisite attention to detail, these cushions recreate the intricate Kani weave in pure cashmere––a labour of love that takes months to complete. The resulting masterpieces are washed in the flowing waters of the Jhelum and feature Kashmiri Jhal-inspired prints. A second collection uses Srinagar's landscapes as its primary inspiration. Handspun wool is brought to life using intricate crewel chain-stitch embroidery techniques, with each piece borrowing motifs from the royal Mughal era and traditional cashmere shawls. The third collection is a curated selection of Kani shawls, through which Anthology hopes to platform the label's lesser-known efforts to sustain enduring weaving communities even as they breathe new life into traditional techniques.
