Born in Bhuj and steeped in many generations of the design traditions of Kutch, SIDR Craft is the modern-day legacy of Gujarat's indigenous tie-dyers. Anthology worked with the Khatri brothers–Abdullah and Abduljabbar, who helm SIDR today–to bring their mastery of process alive across two collections of silk cushions. One features fine, clamp-dyed fabrics that take inspiration from Latvian-American painter Mark Rothko to explore what language emerges at the convergence of Indian desert culture and the multiform colour-blocking of a contemporary icon. The other experiments with Shibori tie-dye techniques to reinterpret the extraordinary expanse of a star-studded night sky using intricate Bandhani as a backdrop.
